| Power and Seduction: Robert Waldeck’s Belladonna in Elora, Echo Weekly. Kitchener, Ontario. Feb 24th, 2005 | |||
|
"In a diverse exhibition of drawings, paintings, digital images and video, artist Robert Waldeck creates narratives using film stills and found object photographs as source material. The title of the show, Belladonna, translates into "beautiful lady," and the word is derived from a plant used in in the Middle Ages to both seduce lovers and poison enemies. The title unites two central themes of the artist's work - issues relating to gender, seduction and temptation, and concerns about the abuse of power....The exhibition is rich in content and places the viewer in a position where they are invited to confront the various meanings and layers of interpretation in the work." |
